What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine which involves treating an individual with highly diluted substances, given in tablet or liquid form, with the aim of triggering the body’s natural ability to heal itself. There are hundreds of different homeopathic medicines, and it is the job of the homeopath to match the most appropriate medicine to each patient.
Homeopathy is based on the principle that “like treats like”. That is, a substance which causes symptoms when taken in large doses, can be used in dilute amounts to treat those same symptoms. For instance, if a person was poisoned by snake venom, the poison will coagulate the blood, and cause sickness. The same venom made into a homeopathic medicine is actually used to treat blood conditions, without any toxic side-effects.
How long has Homeopathy been used?
It was Samuel Hahnemann, a brilliant doctor working in 1796 who developed this way of healing. Homeopathy has been used for over 200 years.
What happens during your consultation?
Your first consultation can last up to 1.5 hours and involves an in-depth questioning about your physical, emotional, and mental well-being, as well as your upbringing, and health of your parents, grandparents, etc. It is important that the homeopath can gather as much information as possible to design the best possible treatment plan for you, which will treat the whole body rather than just the symptoms.
Are homeopathic remedies safe?
Homeopathic remedies are a unique, potentised energy medicine, made from the plant, mineral and animal worlds. They work by gently boosting the natural energy of the body, and are very safe, even for pregnant women, babies, and the elderly. There is no danger of addiction or toxicity.
What can homeopathy treat?
Homeopathy treats the person rather than the disease. Homeopathy works by strengthening the immune system and vital energies, stimulating the body to heal itself. In this way, Homeopathy can be used for almost all illnesses, and most clients find that as well as their health problem improving, they also notice improvements in energy levels, and general well-being.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the individual. Although you may experience a good improvement after one session, it is normally recommended to have 1 or 2 follow-up sessions to ensure the results are long-lasting. Chronic health problems may take 6 months or more to treat, generally seeing your Homeopath monthly to monitor improvement
